Can you believe Spring is right around the corner? Time is flying by, so we are already preparing for the Volleyball Rec and Rec Plus seasons for Fall 2024!
For those of you that are not familiar with Rec Plus, our league is geared towards 5th and 6th graders (for the 2024/2025 school year) that would like to compete at a higher level than recreationally. In response to community requests, this fall we are investigating and would like to offer a new opportunity for a 7th and 8th grade Rec Plus division as well.
There are evaluation requirements for this league which are: Achieving at least 5 of 10 overhand serves and achieving 5 out of 10 passes to target. Serving rules for Rec plus include the ability to serve 5 feet in front of the service line and once two successful serves have gone over, the player is to back up to the normal service line for the rest of the game.
If your athlete is interested in more competitive play, we invite you to our Rec Plus evaluations on Sunday May 5th from 5-7pm OR Wednesday May 15th from 5-7pm. Both evaluations will be held at Riverside Junior High. You only need to attend one date. Sign ups are now available utilizing the sign-up genius above.
Please note that these evaluations are taking place before registration closes for Mudsock Youth Volleyball. You must be registered for Fall 2024 BEFORE attending a tryout date for liability reasons. Registration starts May 1st. No try out dates will be available after May 15th. These are the only 2 dates available, so mark your calendars!
The fee for the 5th/6th and possible 7th/8th grade Rec Plus offerings will be the same as for rec ($125) and includes one game jersey, tournament championship medal, if applicable, equipment usage, operating expenses, facility usage and custodial fees, officials, and insurance. If a player is not selected for Rec Plus, they will be moved to a Rec team. If you choose to cancel your registration completely, you will be subject to the refund policy and its dates.
More specific details regarding this potential new offering (7th/8th Rec Plus) are to be determined at an upcoming Mudsock Youth Volleyball board meeting. Also, to make these offerings possible, we need additional board members and volunteer support.
